Walking Into Wonderland: How Luttrellstown Castle Became The Most Unique Wedding Experience In Ireland

As you approach the fifteenth century castle, complete with ramparts and turrets, travelling up the avenue through pristine parkland and past woodland groves, you will feel as if you are being transported to another world – your own wedding wonderland if you will.

The ideal way to start married life is with a little magic – and that’s exactly what Luttrellstown Castle offers.  The grandeur of the vast parkland estate, the River Liffey flowing by, the red carpet welcome to the Castle with its Gothic exterior and plush, contemporary interior – the gourmet food from the kitchen, the crystal chandeliers in the ballrooms – everything about this venue conjures up the vision of an enchanted wedding…

Wonderful beginning

As you consider Luttrellstown Castle Resort as the venue for your wedding, it’s important to remember that this will be all yours, exclusively. Be it for a day or, as is increasingly the trend, for an entire weekend, at Luttrellstown, you can make a celebratory private festival of the occasion.

While the Castle came to world attention as a wedding venue when Manchester United and England star David Beckham and Spice Girl and fashion icon Victoria Adams said ‘I do’ here in 1999, the Castle has always been a venue for celebrity and royal visits. However, our reputation as a wedding venue has been built on the high standards of care and attention that we provide for each and everyone of our guests.

Our team of experts on site will guide you through every step of planning the event to ensure the best experience possible for you and all your guests – be it a party of 20 or the larger celebration with up to 180 of your closest family and friends. It’s this care and attention coupled with the fairy-tale venue which has earned Luttrellstown Castle Resort the reputation as the most unique wedding experience in the country.

Romantic

From the moment you arrive at the Castle, meeting your needs and those of your guests will be our foremost priority.  While your guests enjoy dainty canapes and cocktails, it will be possible for you to get photographs in some of the many beautiful locations in the Castle itself or throughout the 600 acre estate.

Scenes such as the romantic Doric Temple or on the Castle balcony looking over to the majestic Wicklow Mountains provide dramatic backdrops for that special picture which will be a spectacular memento of the unforgettable celebration.

The growing trend for humanist weddings and partnership ceremonies can be accommodated at Luttrellstown Castle Resort.  The venue is fully approved for all such ceremonies and a list of Humanist Association of Ireland solemnisers is available to choose from. We can make all the necessary arrangements while your ceremony can be held in any one of a selection of beautifully decorated private rooms within the Castle walls.

Gourmet opulence

Following Canapes and Cocktails, it’s time for the main event, the wedding feast in the Van Stry Ballroom.  Our specially trained team pay meticulous attention to detail to ensure you and your guests are wined and dined with the finest gourmet food in surroundings of sheer opulence.

Guests can dance the night away under the crystal chandeliers or adjourn to the many beautifully appointed reception rooms for a drink and catch up with friends. This is when you can take a step back, relax and reflect on the magnificence of your most special of days.

You and some of your guests will stay in one of our twelve bedrooms (twenty from April 2020), some of which come complete with classic four poster beds and chaise longues. Classic style befitting a fifteenth century castle blends with a contemporary design following an extensive renovation. This is comfort and grandeur of five star quality.

Beautiful vista

The festival continues the day after with many options to make it as unforgettable as the day that came before.

You can walk off the wedding feast with a ramble through the sprawling estate, go for a round of golf on our championship course,  or even take part in some arranged activities such as archery, falconry or fishing.

For the more indoor inclined, there’s art appreciation, wine tasting or music while you can round off the day with an outdoor al fresco dining experience as sunset washes over the beautiful vista of rolling greens, the sparkling river and the not so distant slopes of the Wicklow mountains.

Such a fairy-tale scene is difficult to imagine – all the more so because it’s only twenty minutes from central Dublin – but it’s within your grasp.  Add the magic of Luttrellstown Castle Resort to your special day and make a memory that will last forever.
