“There is no love sincerer than the love of food,” wrote the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw at the turn of the century. Frankly, we couldn’t agree more.
And after a fun-filled ‘dry January’ where we toyed with the idea of going to box fit classes every day and eating quinoa and kale salad for the rest of our lives, it’s time to seriously up the enjoyment stakes.
So whether your partner-in-crime deserves a treat or you’re just grateful they’ve put up with you this long, there’s no greater gift to bestow on your loved one for Valentine’s than a meal at Luttrellstown’s stunning La Mora restaurant. Greater than a giant stuffed teddy with a big red bow, you ask? Or a pink negligee that doesn’t quite fit? Err, without a doubt yes.
Located in a beautiful log cabin-style clubhouse, the restaurant boasts a team of talented chefs who are as dedicated to the cause of creating unforgettable food as we are to consuming it (someone’s got to do it). And with spectacular views across Luttrelltown’s lush parklands towards the Dublin Mountains, the surroundings ain’t too shabby either.
From confit duck croquette to slow-cooked lamb, pan-seared scallops to a sumptuous warm chocolate tart, the team at La Mora are planning a pretty mouth-watering spread for Saturday, February 10th. Diners that evening will enjoy a five-course meal plus a complimentary half bottle of wine and a glass of champagne at the door. And as if that wasn’t enough, you’ll be able to retire to the club lounge afterwards to enjoy some live music in front the open log fire. Enough of an aphrodisiac to rival oysters.
Remember: the way to a man – or a woman’s – heart is definitely through their stomach. Forget about the flowers, the cringey shop-bought card and the mediocre box of chocolates. This Valentine’s weekend, go big or go home (alone).
Luttrellstown’s Valentines Day Dinner will be served on Saturday February 10, 6pm to 10pm. Cost is €70 per person. Pre-booking is essential. Book online now.
