Luttrellstown Castle Resort completes 2017 Refurbishment Programme
Ivan King appointed new General Manager
Monday, 10th April 2017 – Luttrellstown Castle Resort is pleased to announce that they have completed their refurbishment programme that includes guest bedrooms, public restrooms and public areas. The Resort is also delighted to announce the appointment of Ivan King as its new General Manager. Ivan will join the team at Luttrellstown, which includes renowned Irish golfer Peter Lawrie, who was appointed Director of Golf at Luttrellstown Castle Resort last year. Ivan King joins Luttrellstown Castle having previously held the position of Director of Operations at Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort, and prior to this Mr. King held senior positions at The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.
Situated in the heart of a 560 acre private estate, Luttrellstown Castle was originally built for gracious hospitality and entertaining, a tradition that continues to this day. The Resort is very popular for private weddings, civil ceremonies, conferences, seminars and special occasions, due particularly to its close proximity of only 20 minutes’ drive to Dublin city and Dublin Airport. The renovations included refurbishment to six of the main bedrooms and ground floor facilities, including guest restrooms. The renovations were led by Arlene McIntyre, of Ventura, a leading Irish interior design company. Arlene and the team created a unique look and feel in each of the castle suites to deliver a serene, comfortable and luxurious finish in each room. Linens, cottons and velvets were combined with modern florals and botanical prints to create a synergy with the surrounding tranquil woods and parkland.
The Luttrellstown Castle Resort includes its historic Castle, which is understood to date back to the 15th Century, with its versatile Reception Rooms, Lounges, a Library and Dining and Ball Rooms, all of which offer an idyllic backdrop and privacy for every occasion. The Castle also offers 12 individually designed and decorated Bedrooms, furnished with a unique collection of eighteenth-century Irish and English furniture and antiques. The Castle provides guests with conference, private dining and accommodation facilities all benefitting from high-speed wireless technology. Close to the Castle is the formal walled garden with its special rose display, an apple orchard and a delightful arboretum with over 300 types of exotic trees and plants. The scale and maturity of the extensive Demesne allows guests, if they wish, a time-out or a complete escape from daily life, walking the woods and parklands, exploring and enjoying the many attractions the estate has to offer. The Resort also includes a 20-acre lake ideal for boating and angling.
The 18-hole championship parkland course had a complete redevelopment in 2006/7 – all of the 18 holes have been modified and enhanced. The Golf and Country Club is located on the eastern side of the estate and is bounded by mature woodlands. The natural contours of the land have been cleverly used to maintain the integrity of this ancient landscape. The Clubhouse has been designed in the style of a Swiss Alpine chalet, with spacious interiors, luxurious facilities and panoramic views over the Wicklow mountains.
Over the years many notable members of the royal family and celebrities have spent some time at Luttrellstown Castle. Queen Victoria was a guest in 1849 and 1900 and other distinguished visitors include Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, President Ronald Reagan, Fred Astaire, Paul Newman, Kelly Clarkson and her band and rock bank R.E.M. The Castle, which offers complete privacy for all occasions also hosted David and Victoria Beckham’s wedding.
