Some of The Best Activities To Do ( When Your Back Garden is 600 Acres!)

After months of people telling us ‘it’s Baltic out’, spring has finally sprung. And for us here at Luttrellstown, we couldn’t be happier. it means our visitors can spend more time enjoying our beautiful grounds – not to mention our championship golf course.

Make no mistake: Our estate looks spectacular 365 days a year, thanks to the hard work of our dedicated groundskeeping team. Every season brings with it different plantlife, colours, foliage and fauna, and there is always something new to appreciate. But that said, there is something extra special about the place when the sun is shining.

So whether you’re joining us for afternoon tea, a round of golf, Sunday lunch or even a wedding, make sure you take some time to explore our 600 acres.

Work off that extra slice of wedding cake with a stroll and you’ll be amazed at what you might find. Next to the castle are two walled gardens, including one filled with roses, perfect for a romantic stroll or a wee photoshoot. As well as lush parkland, there’s plenty of woodland (ideal for horse-riding), an apple orchard, a picturesque arboretum, a waterfall and even a classical Doric temple.

We could go on… but we won’t. Instead we’re going to get excited about all of the activities that you can enjoy outside at Luttrellstown this spring and summertime.

With a refreshing Pimms in hand, you might be playing classic lawn games like croquet, boules or skittles at a wedding. We’ve definitely got the space. Or perhaps you’ll join us for a team building session outside with your colleagues. We offer everything from archery to falconry and quad biking. We even have our own purpose-built falconry centre, where you can meet Bella, our native long eared owl.

We even offer the opportunity to practise your yoga poses and create some zen out on our magnificent lawn grounds when the sun is shining. There is nothing like doing yoga outdoors to truly unwind and de-clutter the mind. Not to mention a beautiful private 10-acre lake, ideal for fishing. You can fish bankside, or on one of our lake boats if you prefer. Fishing is one a catch-and-release basis, and some of our guests have even caught pike weighing over 25 pounds!

Not forgetting our 18-hole championship golf course, with breathtaking views from the 15th tee down across the Liffey Valley and Strawberry Beds. Plus the outdoor grass bays of our Golf Academy, where you can perfect your game out in the spring air.

Whatever your plans for spending time outdoors at Luttrellstown, we’re so excited for you to enjoy our grounds. Fingers crossed soon the sun will be ‘splitting the rocks’ and it’ll be ‘grand drying weather altogether’.
