Festive Afternoon Tea

Luttrellstown Castle

A Gatsby inspired Festive Afternoon Tea

The 1920’s were a period of style, of new culture, artistic and lifestyle changes and joie de vivre and we want to celebrate the 2020’s in the same way. Following on from lockdowns and restrictions, we want to open our doors and throw a most fabulous Festive Afternoon Tea for the month of December! The Great Gatsby themed Afternoon Tea is in honour of one of our most well-known owners, Aileen Guinness.

The Castle has had many different owners but with Aileen as its owner, the Castle witnessed some of the most fabulous parties, glamorous balls and fancy race day celebrations in its heyday of the 1920’s and 1930’s.

Aileen Guinness was an Anglo-Irish society hostess and was one of the "Guinness Golden Girls" who were icons in the 1920s, along with her sisters Maureen and Oonagh. The Castle was renowned as one of the best places to party in Dublin at the time, Aileen even installed a bar and nightclub here! Aileen was an elegant and generous hostess and as part of the rich and well-connected Guinness family, parties included the jet-set crew of movie stars, society heiresses and international playboys including Hollywood actor, Douglas Fairbanks.
