Dublin, August 2017 - Set on 560 acres of lush green land and enclosed by miles of stone walls, the gates of Luttrellstown Castle Resort have opened to the public for the first time with the introduction of the Aileen Plunkett Afternoon Tea.
Luttrellstown Castle Resort is a place of secluded tranquillity and grandeur only 20 minutes from Dublin city centre.
Steeped in a rich history, the ivy-clad castle’s original character has remained untouched – testament to one previous owner, Aileen Plunkett who was gifted the estate by her father Ernest Guinness in the 1920s and, over 50 years, created a warm and elegant setting always perfect for entertaining.
Looking out over the magnificent demesne, Aileen Plunkett Afternoon Tea in the Van Stry ballroom begins with delicate finger sandwiches, baskets of warm, freshly baked scones and specialties unique to Luttrellstown Castle Resort including Aileen’s Special Banana Bread.
Executive Chef James Tennant has also created a selection of delectable sweet treats including Hibiscus Macaroons and Aileen’s Treat, an irresistible parfait layered with fresh strawberries, peach and a splash of Grand Marnier. All is accompanied by a tea of choice from a range of over twenty or a speciality coffee.
Aileen Plunkett Afternoon Tea at Luttrellstown Castle Resort is served on two sittings every Sunday, 2pm and 4.15pm, and every weekend from October 2017.
