Our New Castle Refurbishment by Arlene McIntyre Is Absolutely Breathtaking

March 07, 2018

We can't wait for you to see it.

After weeks of hectic refurbishment work here at Luttrellstown Castle, our magnificent ivy-clad doors have swung open for your arrival once more.

Thanks to interior designer Arlene McIntyre and her team at Ventura, the castle has been given a full makeover from top to toe this Winter. McIntyre, one of Ireland's most respected interior designers, relished the opportunity to reimagine our intricate fifteenth-century property, creating a new definition of luxury in the process.

Entering by the main doors, you'll be wowed by the 36-light Alessandra chandelier, handcrafted in Italy, hanging high above. The Belgian blue of our reimagined hallway perfectly complements the incredible frescoes and original artwork you might already be familiar with. Plus this royal colour is the ideal backdrop for stunning photo ops atop our newly-revived oak staircase.

From gold gilded mirrors to reupholstered antique furniture, no stone has been left unturned in updating this high-octane space, which is now truly fit for a King (and his Queen).

Travelling further inside the castle, our history-steeped dining room, once home to the lavish dinner parties of former owner Aileen Plunkett, and with its art deco fireplace and incredible oil paintings, has turned a stunning shade of ‘Equestrian Green’. Plus our fairytale-esque ballroom, brimming with crane-your-neck-to-see ceiling frescoes and wall tapestries, feels more warm and inviting than ever before for that dreamy first dance.

And of course no effort has been spared on our six magnificent bedrooms either. They’ve all been given the full once over, from jewel-coloured fabrics to restored furniture, bespoke pieces to subtle, elegant lighting. Old meets new as century-old antiques mesh with a modern day swagger.

But the pièce de résistance? Well, it's just got to be our breathtaking Bridal Suite. It’s been restored, reupholstered and lovingly reworked for weeks on end. And from an incredible chandelier to plush velvets and bespoke furniture, it's looking even more beautiful than ever. The stunning original fireplace and free-standing copper bath further enhance the opulence factor to create the perfect space for glamour-seeking newlyweds.

In all honesty, we just couldn't be happier with our spectacular new look. The entire refurbishment has maintained all the incredible original features of the castle, while simultaneously bringing it right into the world of contemporary luxury. We can't wait for you to come and experience it for yourselves.
